My Story.
Hi, I'm Emiel Kuijpers, the founder of Likeable Locals. From a young age, I've been fascinated by different cultures and the art of photographing people. This passion for exploring the world and capturing its essence has been a constant in both my professional and personal life.
I've always loved traveling abroad, immersing myself in new environments, and engaging with the locals. Asking questions and understanding their way of life has been one of my greatest joys.

In recent years, I've noticed a growing desire among travelers to experience destinations through the eyes of a local. They want to go beyond the typical tourist spots and truly understand the culture and people of the places they visit. Therefore, locals can make your journey unforgettable. And who better to tell the story of a city or country than the locals themselves? Think of the stylish Italians, the extravagant Parisians, and the hospitable Asians.
This trend inspired me to create Likeable Locals, a platform dedicated to sharing stories and photos of locals from around the globe. For me, this project beautifully merges my two main interests: photography and cultural exploration.

Another reason for starting this platform is to promote understanding in our increasingly globalized world. Cultural and religious differences can sometimes lead to misunderstandings, and I hope that by showcasing the beauty of diverse cultures, we can foster a bit more understanding and appreciation for one another.

With my background as a city marketeer, I have a knack for building communities and bringing people together. That's why I'm on the lookout for travel photographers and bloggers who are eager to join me in sharing the most captivating stories. Together, we can inspire others to see the world in a new light and appreciate the richness of its diverse cultures.

So, welcome to Likeable Locals! I hope you enjoy your time here, find some inspiration, and maybe even discover your next travel destination. Happy exploring!
